“PLEASE READ IF YOU ARE ON MEDICARE OR MEDICAID AND ARE THINKING OF GOING TO DR. PRATT AT CLAYTON FAMILY MEDICINE If I have to see the Dr. because I missed my last appointment to get my routine bloodwork done, then see him again after my bloodwork hets done (all of which was primarily to check my A1C which has been in the 5. range for numerous years) indicates they just want more from my Medicare for the initial visit to authorize the bloodwork. There was no other reason they could not have just verbally authorized as usual, ran the bloodwork (as routine) then had me meet with the Dr. I was told approximately a year ago I was breaking the law by one of his staff because I refused to take the Medicare wellness exam. She actually pulled me to the side into a vacant office after I had checked out from my appointment. She was standing against the wall, in back of the front desk, waiting on me to engage in this false accusation. It was literally a verbal confrontation and I was not going to be subjected to her accusations. I called Medicare immediately when I got home. ACCORDING TO THEM, I WAS NOT IN VIOLATION OF ANY LAWS WITH THE STATE NOR WITH MEDICARE. I then called Dr. Pratt and had a very lengthy, in depth conversation about his office staff, their behavior, their knowledge of State laws, Medicare laws and patient rights laws. I advised him that according to the State and the Medicare office it is not mandated that I take the Annual Wellness Exam and there have been no laws broken. Both branches of Government believed he/his office was attempting to gain an extra billing to my Medicare. He told me in that conversation that, in actuality, he can bill Medicare FOUR TIMES the amount for the Wellness visit as compared to one office visit. HAVE ANY OF YOU BEEN PERSUADED TO GO IN FOR THAT ANNUAL WELLNESS VISIT?…..HAVE YOU BEEN BOMBARDED ON THE PHONE TO GO IN FOR THAT WELLNESS VISIT? …. HAVE ANY OF YOU BEEN SENT RELENTLESS EMAILS FOR THAT VISIT?….HAVE ANY OF YOU BEEN TOLD YOU WOULD BE IN VIOLATION OF THE LAW IF YOU DID NOT GET IT? ….. HAVE ANY OF YOU BEEN PURPOSELY SCARED INTO BELIEVING THAT YOU WOULD GET ARRESTED FOR BREAKING THE LAW IF YOU DID NOT GET THE WELLNESS EXAM? I was not ever going public with this until today when I was put on hold and a woman by the name of ‘HELEN’ got on the phone with me today. I tried to explain what I needed on my bloodwork. She was rude, kept interrupting me, persisted to over speak me and she actually asked me “why do you want to see Dr. Pratt if you have had a problem here”. That was enough for me. I told her I would speak to Dr. Pratt about her. But it’s just not worth it……I thought I would tell my story out loud and just not speak to Dr. Pratt. It didn’t do any good last time so why would it now? If I have to see a Dr. to get my standing A1C test, then get the test, then go back to see the Dr. I may as well go to another Dr. and just be done with it. I’d rather give my Medicare money to a legitimate billing department who’s not looking to suck the system dry for all they can squeeze out of it on unjust, accusatory threats and wanting to bill for an unnecessary office visit. Just my thoughts. On another note my husband and I had TWO independent consultations with Dr. Pratt pleading with him to quit prescribing our son addictive medications. He refused to listen to us and kept prescribing. As to protect our son’s privacy I will not go into details but will tell you it ended up in a very bad way. He is no longer with Pratt due to his prescribing habits. He has fortunately found another Dr. who takes into account his situation prior to prescribing and who really cares about his wellbeing and welfare. Their office even had the audacity for someone to call up my husband and tell him TO COME IN FOR AN EYE EXAM……. HE TOLD THEM HE ALREADY HAD AN OPTOMETRIST. WHAT? WHAT? Oh, just another Medicare billing!”

“Doctor Pratt truly cares about his patients. He is knowledgeable, patient, understanding, and listens to what you have to say. He explains things very well and has a wonderful, friendly manner about him. He’s seldom in a rush, and will spend more time with you than you are used to. He’s been our GP for 5 years, and he and his staff have provided excellent medical advice and service.”
