Four Oaks will get an early taste of fall community fun when the G+F Twilight Market returns Friday, October 16.

The free event runs from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at 309 US-701 S in Four Oaks.

For local families, the timing makes this an easy after-school or after-work outing without committing an entire Saturday.

The market is designed as a relaxed gathering where neighbors can browse, eat, meet local sellers and enjoy the cooler part of the day.

Organizers say visitors can expect a mix of local makers, bakers, growers and vendors, giving shoppers a chance to support small businesses close to home.

Fresh-baked goods, seasonal produce, crafts and artisan products are among the attractions planned for the evening.

The event also has a strong farm-country flavor, with farm and tack supplies plus opportunities involving poultry, caged birds, livestock and other animals.

That combination makes the market a little different from a typical craft fair.

Pet rescues and adoption opportunities are also expected, along with feed giveaways and food trucks.

For families with children, the variety means there should be plenty to look at even between shopping stops.

The biggest appeal may simply be the setting: a community market stretching from late afternoon into the evening.

October temperatures usually make outdoor events more comfortable than the heat of midsummer, and the twilight schedule gives the gathering a distinctly seasonal feel.

Admission is free, so visitors can stop by briefly or stay through the evening.

Anyone planning to shop may want to bring a reusable bag and arrive with enough time to browse the different vendors before the 8:00 PM close.

G+F Twilight Market is presented by Goods + Feathers Markets & Events and Briji's Farm and Garden.

For JoCo residents looking for something local to do on a Friday evening, this Four Oaks gathering offers shopping, food and a chance to spend a few hours with the community.

The twilight hours are what make this appealing. October evenings are finally comfortable enough to walk around outside again. I’d like to see what the local growers have and maybe pick up a few things before the 8 o’clock close.

Fresh baked goods, fall weather and no admission. Works for me.

Four Oaks needs more things like this. Small events where you can actually talk to the vendors and run into people you know are a lot more enjoyable to me than the huge festivals.

A Friday evening market is much easier for us than giving up half of Saturday. We can stop after work, grab something from a food truck and still have the rest of the weekend.

Will the pet rescues have animals there that evening? My daughter would spend the whole time with them if they do.

I like that this one has more than crafts. The farm supplies, animals and local growers make it sound a little different from the usual vendor market.

Local baked goods and food trucks got my attention. Sounds like an easy Friday dinner plan.

4 to 8 is a great time for a fall market.
