A Day for Trading-Card Fans in Selma

Trading-card enthusiasts across Johnston County have a new event to mark on their calendars.

Hidden Temple Toys is bringing the TCG Expo to the Selma Civic Center on Saturday, October 24, 2026, from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m.

The event announcement features Pokémon-inspired artwork and One Piece imagery, highlighting two popular interests in the trading-card community.

Trading-card games, often called TCGs, combine collecting, strategy, competition, and the excitement of discovering new cards.

For some enthusiasts, the thrill comes from opening a pack and finding a favorite character. Others enjoy building competitive decks, trading with friends, or collecting special editions.

Why Trading Cards Are So Popular

Trading-card collecting has become a hobby enjoyed by children, teenagers, and adults.

Some collectors focus on completing sets, while others search for rare cards, special artwork, or characters they remember from childhood.

Pokémon remains one of the best-known trading-card franchises, while games such as One Piece have attracted their own enthusiastic communities.

For many people, collecting is also a social activity.

Card enthusiasts enjoy comparing collections, discussing strategies, learning about different games, and sharing their discoveries with other fans.

Events centered on the hobby give people an opportunity to make those connections in person.

Something for Families and Collectors

The TCG Expo announcement suggests an event centered on the trading-card hobby, though the exact lineup of activities has not been confirmed.

Families with children interested in Pokémon may want to learn more, while experienced collectors may want to meet fellow enthusiasts.

Anyone planning to bring cards for possible trading should protect valuable items and understand their approximate value before agreeing to an exchange.

Parents should also supervise any trades involving younger collectors.

The event gives residents of Selma and neighboring Johnston County communities another reason to visit the town.

Hidden Temple Toys is presenting the TCG Expo, the organizer named at the top of the event announcement.

The flyer also says the event is proudly sponsored by Selma, placing the gathering among the kinds of community activities that can draw visitors into town.

The Selma Civic Center is the announced location, making the event a local destination for Selma residents and those in surrounding Johnston County communities.

Visitors from Smithfield, Kenly, Princeton, Benson, or elsewhere in the county may see the expo as a chance to spend part of a Saturday in Selma.

As with any event, it is worth checking current organizer information before leaving home, especially if you are traveling for a particular product, vendor or activity.

Interested in participating?

The link shared with the announcement leads to a Hidden Temple Toys show-interest form.

That form may help people contact the organizer about taking part, but the flyer does not say whether it's for vendors, attendees, or another group.

Those interested should read the form carefully and contact Hidden Temple Toys for details about participation, admission, vendor arrangements or special activities.

Admission prices, ticket requirements and a full event schedule were not listed on the supplied poster, so they should not be assumed.

Plan your Saturday visit

The confirmed event details are straightforward: Saturday, October 24, 2026, 10 a.m.–5 p.m., Selma Civic Center.

Before attending, check the organizer’s latest announcements for any updates to hours, admission, activities, and participation rules.

For trading-card enthusiasts, the expo offers a chance to connect with others who enjoy the hobby; for Selma, it is another opportunity to welcome visitors to a community gathering.

Whether your interest is collecting, playing or simply learning what trading-card games are all about, keep an eye on Hidden Temple Toys’ event information as October 24 approaches.

Anyone know if there will be an entry fee or if it's free to get in? That would help me figure out if I can bring the whole crew.

Good to see Selma getting more events like this. The civic center sits empty too often. Use that space.

Never really understood the appeal of trading cards myself but my grandkids are into Pokemon so maybe I'll take them. Sounds like a family thing.

The tip about knowing your card values before trading is real. Seen kids get taken advantage of at these things before. Parents please pay attention.

Took my daughter to a similar event in Raleigh last spring and she had a blast trading with other kids. Something like this closer to home would be so much better for us.

One Piece cards have gotten really hard to find around here. Hoping some vendors bring good stock and not just the common stuff.

October 2026 is a long ways off. Why are they announcing this so early? Not complaining just seems unusual.

Hidden Temple Toys always puts on a good show. Glad they're using the civic center, that space is perfect for something like this.

I wish the article had more details about what's actually going to be there. Vendors? Tournaments? Just saying it's a TCG expo doesn't really tell me much.

My son is gonna lose his mind when I tell him about this. He's been obsessed with Pokemon cards for two years now and this is right in our backyard basically.
