The Rotary Club of Clayton will bring golfers and local businesses together on Thursday, November 19, for the second annual Leigh Hudson Golf Tournament at The Neuse Country Club.

The fundraiser honors Leigh Hudson while supporting Rotary projects that serve Clayton and the surrounding community.

The date has special meaning: on November 19, 2024, Clayton dedicated a flagpole at the Clayton Community Center to Hudson, and Mayor Jody McLeod declared Leigh Hudson Day.

Rotary now holds its golf fundraiser on that anniversary.

A tournament with a local story

The first Leigh Hudson Golf Tournament took place at The Neuse Country Club on November 19, 2025.

This year's second annual outing returns to the same Clayton course, giving supporters another opportunity to remember Hudson through an afternoon centered on fellowship and community service.

For organizers, the event is about more than a round of golf; it is also a way to keep a local legacy connected to service.

The Rotary Club of Clayton has published a photo gallery showing the first tournament and information about the second annual event.

That gallery offers a look at the people and activities that helped launch the tradition.

How the fundraiser helps Clayton

According to the club, donations support community programs, scholarships for high school seniors, and efforts to address food insecurity.

One example is the club's food-packing project associated with the Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service.

These projects reflect Rotary's broader emphasis on service and practical assistance to neighbors.

Supporters who do not play golf can still contribute through the club's dedicated tournament donation page.

That means participation is not limited to people who own golf clubs or can spend the day on the course.

A donation, a sponsorship, or a team registration can all help turn a sporting event into community support.

Teams and sponsorship opportunities

The club is offering four-player team registration for $500, according to its 2026 tournament order form.

A $600 option combines a four-player team registration with a hole sponsorship.

Individual hole sponsorships are listed at $150.

Other sponsorship levels include opportunities associated with the drink cart, lunch and snacks, awards ceremony, swag bags, and golf contests.

Some packages are limited in number, and availability can change as supporters sign up.

Businesses interested in participating can review the official sponsorship and team registration page for current options.

The club notes that team registration requires a separate form with the golfers' information after payment clears.

It also states that team registrations and sponsorships are nonrefundable.

Why local businesses participate

A charity golf tournament can give businesses a chance to meet other community supporters while backing projects that benefit residents.

Some sponsors choose a visible presence on the course, while others help fund parts of the event that golfers experience throughout the day.

The tournament's sponsor packages offer several ways for businesses of different sizes to take part.

Supporters should review each package's stated benefits rather than assume that every sponsorship includes a team.

Planning for November 19

The event is scheduled for Thursday, November 19, 2026, at The Neuse Country Club in Clayton.

Readers can check the Rotary Club of Clayton's tournament photo gallery for the event's history and its 2026 announcement.

Prospective teams and sponsors should use the official registration page for pricing and availability.

Anyone who wants to support the cause without playing can visit the tournament donation form.

The club's published information confirms the date and venue; readers should consult organizers for the day's specific arrival and start times.

As the second annual tournament approaches, it offers Clayton another opportunity to remember Leigh Hudson and invest in projects that make a difference close to home.
