Christmas events 2026 in Smithfield bring a full December of hometown traditions, from the annual parade to Santa visits and holiday movies.

The first outing arrives Friday, December 4, when Christmas carriage rides offer an early glimpse of the season downtown.

A Christmas kickoff and holiday market follow Saturday, December 5, from 3 to 8 in the evening.

The Smithfield Town Tree Lighting takes place at 7 that night, giving neighbors a chance to welcome the season together.

The Smithfield Christmas Parade is another centerpiece of the town's holiday schedule; check the official page for the latest date and details.

For many families, the parade is the moment December starts to feel like Christmas.

Downtown keeps the celebration going with seasonal activities, Santa visits and family events throughout December.

Santa’s Hut gives families opportunities to visit during the holiday season; check the Town's current Christmas information before heading downtown.

Breakfast-with-Santa and other downtown activities add more choices for families during the month.

Additional carriage rides are scheduled throughout December. See the official carriage ride schedule and ticket information here.

Smithfield's Christmas movies include The Polar Express, National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation and Elf. Check the official movie page for current showtimes and ticket information.

With festivities spread across December, families can choose one favorite outing or make a season of exploring Smithfield together.

Nice lineup. I’m glad Smithfield still keeps these hometown Christmas traditions going.

The tree lighting is what gets me into the Christmas spirit. Add the holiday market and Santa visits and there’s plenty for families to choose from. We’ll probably make more than one trip downtown this year.

Elf on the big screen sounds like fun. That one never gets old at our house.

I like that there are events spread throughout December instead of everything happening on one weekend. The carriage rides and Christmas movies would make a nice family night.

Does anyone know how early you need to get downtown for a good spot for the parade? We may bring the grandkids this year.

Glad to see the tree lighting and parade both coming back. Smithfield really does a nice job downtown at Christmas.

Carriage rides downtown sound wonderful. I need to check the dates before they fill up.

The Christmas parade is always the one I look forward to most.
