Downtown Kenly is preparing for a full day of Christmas cheer on Saturday, December 5, 2026, when Christmas on Main returns from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The free, family-friendly festival is organized by the Kenly Area Chamber of Commerce and will bring shopping, food, entertainment and seasonal attractions to Main Street.

The newly advertised activity lineup offers plenty for children, parents, grandparents and visitors looking for a small-town holiday outing.

Santa, holiday characters and Christmas trees

At Santa’s Workshop, children can visit Santa and families can stop for holiday photographs, one of the traditional highlights of the annual celebration.

Christmas trees are expected to line Main Street, while surprise Christmas characters will make the downtown atmosphere even more festive.

The 2026 festival announcement also promises a children’s art exhibit and art walk, giving young artists a chance to be part of the celebration.

Hands-on fun for the kids

Families can look forward to a Kids Zone with inflatables, along with a Touch-a-Truck activity for youngsters who enjoy exploring impressive vehicles up close.

The program also includes a live nativity with animals and carolers, combining a traditional Christmas scene with the sights and sounds of the season.

A second Johnston County visitor listing mentions train rides for children, although individual activity times have not yet been published.

Anyone planning a visit specifically for the rides or a particular attraction should confirm the final details closer to December 5.

Music, food and Christmas shopping

Live holiday entertainment is on the schedule, with local performers helping provide a soundtrack for visitors strolling through downtown Kenly.

Food vendors are expected throughout the celebration, offering families a chance to take a break between activities, browse the festival and enjoy a bite to eat.

Local merchants and festival vendors will offer Christmas shopping opportunities, with handmade crafts and other seasonal finds helping make the day about more than decorations.

The Chamber describes its annual downtown tradition as an opportunity to support businesses and community organizations while enjoying food and entertainment.

The announced lineup also includes a Christmas bake-off and cake walk, while an additional visitor listing references a cookie-and-candy bake-off.

Specific competition rules, entry details and the start times for those activities have not yet been confirmed in the published announcements.

Planning your Saturday visit

Christmas on Main takes place in downtown Kenly, with 207 West Second Street, Kenly, NC 27542, given as the event listing's reference address.

Festival admission is listed as free, although visitors may wish to bring money for food, shopping and any separately priced activities.

Because attractions are spread across the day, comfortable walking shoes and a plan for meeting up with family members are useful for a busy downtown outing.

For schedule updates or vendor questions, contact the Kenly Area Chamber of Commerce at (919) 284-5510.

One important distinction: Kenly’s Christmas Parade is listed separately for Thursday, December 3, at 7 p.m.; Christmas on Main is Saturday’s daytime celebration.

From Santa visits and children’s activities to nativity scenes, festive shopping and local entertainment, Kenly is offering plenty of ways for neighbors to enjoy the Christmas season together.
