Halloween Fun Returns to Kenly
Families in Kenly and surrounding Johnston County communities have a special Halloween celebration to look forward to this October.
The Town of Kenly Trunk or Treat is scheduled for Saturday, October 24, from 5 to 7 p.m., at the Kenly Parks and Recreation Soccer Field.
The event brings together children, parents, local businesses and community organizations for an evening of seasonal entertainment.
Rather than going door to door, children can visit decorated vehicle trunks, collect candy, and enjoy a variety of activities in one location.
More Than Just CandyTrunk-or-treat celebrations have become popular community traditions because they combine Halloween costumes and treats with time for families to spend together.
Kenly's event features several attractions designed to keep children entertained.
In addition to decorated trunks and candy, the announced activities include costume contests, pumpkin decorating, music, and inflatables.
The costume contests give children an opportunity to show off their creativity, whether they arrive dressed as superheroes, storybook characters, animals, or their favorite Halloween personalities.
Pumpkin decorating offers another seasonal activity, while music and inflatables add to the festive atmosphere.
Families can enjoy the celebration at their own pace, visiting the decorated trunks and taking part in activities that interest them. |

A community effort in Kenly
One of the special features of this gathering is the involvement of local organizations and businesses alongside the town's recreation and police departments.
Churches, civic groups and businesses are all mentioned in the event promotion, reflecting the community-centered nature of the celebration.
That participation can help turn a simple candy outing into an opportunity for residents to meet the people and groups active in their town.
Events like this also offer a welcoming option for families looking for seasonal activities close to home rather than traveling outside Johnston County.
Whether children are excited about the treats, the costumes or the inflatables, the event gives families several reasons to spend time together.
Planning your visit
The celebration takes place at the Kenly Parks and Recreation Soccer Field at 410 S. College Avenue, Kenly, NC 27542.
The announced hours are 5–7 p.m. on Saturday, October 24. The event listing provides the contact number (919) 588-5090 for questions.
Families may want to arrive with enough time to explore the decorated trunks and enjoy the other activities before the event ends.
Because the event takes place outdoors at a soccer field, comfortable footwear and clothing suited to the evening weather are practical choices.
Parents and caregivers should remain with young children, especially near vehicles and activity areas, and make sure costumes are easy to see as daylight fades.
The listing does not state an admission charge, so visitors should check directly with the organizers rather than assume any particular ticket or fee arrangement.
With candy, costumes, decorated trunks and a lively lineup of activities, Kenly's Trunk or Treat is shaping up as a cheerful way for neighbors to celebrate Halloween together.

Johnston County has been doing a better job with family events lately. Glad Kenly is part of that. We will be driving in from Smithfield for this one.
Two hours feels a little short with costume contests AND pumpkin decorating AND inflatables all going on. Hope it does not get too rushed.
Not really a Halloween person myself but trunk or treat is honestly a solid idea for younger kids. My nephew loves stuff like this.
Love that local businesses get involved with the decorated trunks. Puts a good face on the community and gives kids a fun night out.
The soccer field off Handley Mill Road? Plenty of parking out there which is nice. Last year some of these events get packed and parking is a nightmare.
Costume contest sounds fun but I hope they have more than one age group. My 10 year old does not love competing against the toddlers.
October 24th is a Saturday so that works out perfectly. 5 to 7 is a great time slot, not too late for the little ones.
Does anyone know if the pumpkin decorating supplies are provided or do we need to bring our own pumpkin? Asking before we show up empty handed lol
Good to see Kenly putting something like this together. Way safer than walking door to door along some of those dark roads out here.
We went last year and the kids had a blast. The inflatables alone were worth showing up for. Definitely going again this October.
