Sonlight Farms gives Kenly families a full Saturday of fall choices this October. Plan a nearby outing where each visitor can choose a favorite activity, from a maze to a stop with the farm animals.

The 2026 season lists public visits on Saturdays from October 3 through October 31, 10 a.m.–5 p.m., at 293 Bunn Road. October 10 is the Saturday within this newsletter’s coverage week.

The current seasonal listing includes corn mazes, hayrides, a giant slide, a bounce house, a playground, farm animals and pumpkin picking. A Ninja Warrior course and family photo props are also listed.

Leave room for the activity nobody expected to love. One child may want another turn at the playground while a grandparent prefers watching the animals. A flexible plan lets everyone enjoy something different.

Plan the family budget

Admission is listed at $14 for ages two and older. The rock wall and bungee bounce cost extra: $4 each or two for $7.

Concessions are available. Confirm food choices and pumpkin prices with the farm rather than assuming that every purchase is covered by admission.

Discuss optional activities before arriving. Giving children a small spending allowance can help them choose what matters most and keep your afternoon within budget.

For friends coming together, compare arrival times and decide whether to explore as one group or meet again at agreed points. Different ages often enjoy different attractions.

Explain the plan to younger visitors, including who they stay with and when you expect to stop for food. A few clear arrangements can make a busy outdoor outing feel easier.

Consider letting each family member choose one priority. That gives everyone a turn without making the day depend on completing every attraction.

Make October 10 a Kenly outing

The farm’s visitor listing also identifies October 10 as Sweetpotato Day. Ask Sonlight Farms about the specific activities before planning your visit around that theme.

A farm visit can open a conversation about local agriculture. Invite children to notice the crops, animals and work involved in producing food.

You do not need to turn the afternoon into a formal lesson. Let curiosity lead, and ask staff questions when there is a suitable opportunity.

Leave a little space for photographs and a quiet break. A shorter visit that everyone enjoys can be more memorable than an exhausting attempt to see everything.

Pack for an outdoor day

Wear comfortable shoes and check the forecast before leaving. Think about layers, water and a secure place for personal items during active play.

Visitors with mobility or sensory needs should ask about surfaces and individual attractions. General event listings cannot describe every access arrangement.

Save directions to 293 Bunn Road before setting out. The listed phone number is 252-205-5280.

If you are coordinating a larger group, confirm its arrangements directly instead of assuming a public Saturday visit works exactly like a reserved field trip.

The best souvenir may be time spent together. Choose a maze, a hayride or a pumpkin stop and make an October Saturday a chance to enjoy Kenly as a family.

Nice to have something like this close to Kenly instead of driving an hour for fall activities. Corn maze, hayride, pumpkins and food is plenty for us. We’d probably skip some of the extras and just enjoy the farm.

A Ninja Warrior course at a farm? My son would head straight for that.

10 to 5 gives families plenty of time without having to rush out the door first thing in the morning.

I like the suggestion of letting each child pick one extra activity. The rock wall and bungee bounce can add up pretty quickly when you have several kids.

Does the $14 admission include pumpkin picking, or are the pumpkins priced separately? That’s the one thing I’d want to know before we go.

My grandchildren would probably spend half the day with the farm animals and the other half on the giant slide.

I appreciate seeing the admission price ahead of time. With kids, it helps to know what the basic day will cost before you leave home.

The corn maze and hayride sound like a perfect October Saturday.
