Clayton’s Saturday Market Makes an Easy Fall Morning |
Shop Horne Square on October 31st, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. |

A downtown stop for neighbors
The market’s Main Street location lets you combine shopping with another downtown stop.
Check the individual hours of any restaurant, shop or other business you plan to visit; market hours do not establish their opening times.
If you are bringing children, give them a simple role, such as helping choose an ingredient for a family meal.
That turns browsing into an activity without requiring a special performance, demonstration or attraction to be scheduled.
For friends meeting up, agree on a time and place beforehand, and allow a little flexibility for parking and walking.
People who need specific access arrangements should contact the market before heading out.
Check the weather before you go
This is an outdoor market, and the county’s visitor listing notes that severe weather can cause closures.
A recurring Saturday schedule does not override a safety-related cancellation.
Look for a fresh organizer update if storms or other difficult conditions are forecast.
Choose comfortable footwear and dress for the morning’s temperature, especially if you plan to linger.
You do not need to fill the whole four-hour window to enjoy the visit; a shorter shopping trip can fit neatly into an otherwise busy weekend.
Your October plan
Saturday, October 31st, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on your calandar.
Head to Horne Square at 348 E. Main Street after checking the market’s official updates.
Bring a bag, a manageable shopping plan, and a little time to explore what local sellers have available that morning. |

Pavilion Plays welcomes Luck Street Comedy to Clayton on Friday, October 30, for Halloween Musical Improv Comedy Night.
The evening features two separate performances at 11155 Clayton Boulevard. A family-friendly Monster Mash begins at 6 p.m., followed by a film-noir-inspired comedy performance at 8 p.m.
Two different shows
The earlier show offers a Halloween-themed outing for families, while the later show offers a playful mystery-inspired atmosphere for adults planning a date night.
Comedy created live
Improvisational comedy unfolds without a fixed script. Performers respond to audience suggestions, build characters, and invent scenes in real time. Musical improvisation adds songs and unexpected turns.
Every performance is different because the audience and performers shape the material together.
Supporting local theater
Pavilion Plays brings theater and creative educational opportunities to the Clayton community. A live comedy evening gives local residents another way to enjoy performing arts close to home.
Planning your visit
The Johnston County Visitors Bureau lists admission at $15. Guests should choose their preferred performance time when purchasing tickets, as the two shows are separate events.
Contact the venue for ticket availability, accessibility, age guidance and the expected running time of each performance.

A reusable bag is a must. I also like the reminder to bring something cold for perishables if you're making other stops.
I'm curious about the seafood vendors. Has anyone seen them there recently?
Good point about checking which vendors will be there. Is there a weekly vendor list anywhere?
Horne Square is a nice place for a Saturday morning. I usually try to leave time to walk along Main Street too.
Does anyone know whether the market has fresh bread every Saturday? I'd love to pick some up while I'm downtown.
