Selma Honors Local First Responders With Appreciation Week |

Selma is taking time this week to recognize the men and women who are often among the first to answer the call when their community needs help. The town has proclaimed September 7–13 as First Responders Appreciation Week, honoring members of the Selma Police and Fire departments for their service and commitment to the community. Police officers and firefighters joined Police Chief Justin Vause and Fire Chief Brannan Barbee at the September 3 Selma Town Council meeting, where Mayor Byron McAllister presented the official proclamation. The recognition highlights the important role first responders play in providing immediate assistance during emergencies and acknowledges the risks they routinely face while serving residents. McAllister also praised the departments for the professionalism they demonstrate in carrying out their responsibilities. First Responders Appreciation Week gives Selma residents an opportunity to recognize the police officers, firefighters and other emergency personnel who work throughout the year to protect and assist the community. JoCo Buzz joins the community in saying thank you to Selma’s first responders for their service. |
